Created by a group of volunteers dedicated to providing a safe and welcoming enclosure for dogs to run and play while encouraging socialization for humans and canines. The Woodbridge Dog Park Cooperative (WDPC) now includes more than 300 enthusiastic supporters. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an elected board of directors, officers and focused committees.
In order to break ground on our new dog park we need $60,000. That covers site prep, creating a safe enclosure, accessible seating, signage, and the first year’s maintenance costs. The Town of Woodbridge will not allow us to begin construction until we have that amount in the bank. The WDPC will continue to raise additional funds budgeted at $25,000 in Phase 2 for amenities including additional seating and landscaping and to establish a maintenance fund. Going forward maintenance costs and improvements are projected to be $5000 annually and will be covered by annual membership dues and ongoing fundraising efforts.
The Town of Woodbridge has generously designated 1.5 acres of public land on the Fitzgerald Property for the creation of our dog park. However, taxpayers were promised that no public dollars would be used to create or maintain it.
Since this effort is being run solely by volunteers, no one gets paid. 100% of every dollar donated in 2019 will go to the creation and maintenance of the dog park. Initial start-up costs to establish our non-profit status, our website, etc., have already been covered by donations and the $20 annual membership dues, which will continue to support the administration of the dog park.
Woodbridge Dog Park Cooperative, Inc. is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3). Your contribution may be tax deductible; please consult your tax advisor.
All humans and dogs will be welcomed at the dog park as long as they adhere to the posted rules of use. Membership is not required.
